Works and inspiration that grew out of the international conference Image Operations held in Berlin in April 2014 (organized by Charlotte Klonk of Humboldt University’s Institute for Art History and Video Activism 2.0 principal investigator Jens Eder) have just been published in an extensive collection of articles and essays. Their shared interest in the (moving) image as a tool and weapon in current conflicts unites authors from many different fields, such as anthropology, cultural studies, film-, media-, and communication studies and art history, as well as activists and political filmmakers. The volume thus presents an interdisciplinary approach to a multifaceted subject, which must be defined in its most diverse roles and functions.
